Day 1: Four Points by Sheraton Arusha The Arusha Hotel, Arusha

Arusha

Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. It serves as an excellent base from which to explore the remarkably scenic surrounding area which includes majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. Arusha is a good spot to take a day or two off from the safari circuit as it features a temperate climate and lush surrounds. Visitors can look forward to exploring the wildlife-abundant Serengeti National Park; the magnificent Arusha National Park; and taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Meru, Africa's fifth highest mountain.

Day Itinerary

Kilimanjaro Airport - Arusha 1 hour transfer.

Program: Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, our guide will be waiting for you to accompany you to your lodge.

Activities: If you have time, desire and energy we can take a tour of the city to start discovering Tanzania, alternatively relax at the lodge.

Overnight: Four Points by Sheraton Arusha The Arusha Hotel

The Arusha Hotel is located in the beautiful city of Arusha, Tanzania. The hotel offers 106 stylish rooms that feature Wi-Fi access, a television and a sitting area. Day 2: Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge, Karatu

Karatu

Travellers heading for the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater will pass through the town of Karatu in the green hills of Tanzania's northern highlands. Presided over by the towering Ol Deani Volcano, this small, colourful town serves as a popular overnight stop for visitors exploring the area's many game parks. The town offers a variety of activities including browsing the bustling marketplace, sampling beer at a local brewery, visiting a traditional homestead, or taking a guided walk through the Ngorongoro Forest in search of waterfalls and caves. Whether you are looking for cultural tours, hiking and biking opportunities, a chance to enjoy an authentic rural Tanzania experience, or simply a break between safari game drives, this underrated town has plenty to offer.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park, situated within Tanzania's spectacular Manyara Region, is an awe-inspiring national park comprising of granite ridges, river valleys, mixed vegetative landscapes, and free-roaming wildlife. During the annual dry season, the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife. Large herds of elephants and migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland gather and not surprisingly the predators follow. With lion being among the most commonly spotted animal, it is a rare day that a visitor does not spot this majestic animal prowling or grazing. Tarangire is also the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as oryx and gerenuk are seen regularly. This expansive area is also known for its spectacular baobab trees, its breathtaking views of the Masaai Steppe and the wondrous mountains to the south.

Day Itinerary

Karatu – Tarangire 1 hours transfer.

Program: After breakfast we drive to Tarangire Park for the game drive with pic-nic lunch.

Tarangire is the river crossing Tarangire National Park, the park is famous for big herds of elephants, the huge baobab trees and the high number of predators. There is a lot to see and explore here.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge

Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge enjoys an idyllic location in the green Marera valley just before Karatu village. It serves as a wonderful base for travellers wishing to explore the famous Manyara National Park and interact with Maasai tribes. Desinged to be a haven of luxury and relaxation, the 14 rooms are in separate cottages overlooking the Marera Valley and Ngorongoro Forest. Each room has a fireplace with comfortable chairs, a desk with a tea and coffee station, mosquito nets and a spacious bathroom. During their stay, guests can enjoy delicious meals at the restaurant, relax and the spa and lounge around the swimming pool.

Karatu - Ngorongoro (gate) 45 min transfer.

Program: After breakfast we drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, today we descend into Ngorongoro crater for game drive with pic-nic lunch.

Day 4: Mantis Nungwi Dreams, Nungwi

Nungwi

Once little more than a ramshackle fishing village, Nungwi has been transformed into one of Unguja island's busiest beach destinations and its second most populated village after its capital, Stone Town. Situated at the island's northernmost tip, Nungwi is blessed with some of Zanzibar's most idyllic swimming beaches as the water surrounding this section of the island is fairly deep and mostly unaffected by the change of tides. The village is also renowned as a party hotspot with plenty of boisterous nightlife and a thriving social scene hosted by the village's slew of hotels, bars, shops and restaurants. Spend your days lazing on the spectacular beaches, floating in the idyllic turquoise waters or indulging in a massage. Then, as the sun sets, join the revellers as the town comes alive, cocktails flow freely and the beach bonfires begin to blaze. Daily itineraries tend to be gloriously simple: sunbathe, swim, party, repeat!

Lake Manyara National Park

Situated in Tanzania's central-northern region with the Lake Manyara to its east and the Manyara Escarpment to its west, the Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats supporting an array of wildlife. This small park is home to surprising biodiversity and features a magnificent landscape of acacia woodlands, forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself. The park supports over 400 species of bird and the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world. Other species to spot include giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, warthog, the Cape clawless otter, and the Egyptian mongoose. Don't miss the opportunity to see thousands of flamingos on the lake, the renowned tree-climbing lions, and large families of elephants strolling through the forest.

Day Itinerary

Karatu - Manyara 45 minutes of transfer.

Program: After breakfast departure for Lake Manyara national park for wildlife sighting with picnic lunch. Then transfer to Arusha airport from where we continue to Zanzibar by internal flight (16: 35-17: 45). Once in Zanzibar transfer to your seaside resort.

Activities: game drive.

The Park of Lake Manyara is one of the parks with the highest biodiversity in Tanzania, in a park of only 330 square kilometers we find five different ecosystems. The park is famous for its shy tree lions and the large colony of baboons that populate the forest.

Terms and Conditions

A 30% deposit for safari is required at the time of booking with the balance to be paid at least 30 days before the tour begin.

Payments: wire transfer or credit card (5% commission extra charged on top of the price for credit cards).

Airline schedules may change and flights may be delayed or cancelled for a range of reasons including but not limited to bad weather, air traffic control delays, strikes, technical disruptions, network changes and late inbound aircraft. Accordingly, Kendirita Tours and Travel does not guarantee that the airline will be able to carry you and your baggage in accordance with the date and time of the flights specified in your booking and is not responsible for any flight change/delay/cancellation.

Travel insurance is mandatory for the trip to Tanzania.

Cancellations

Prior to tour departure, for cancellations received by us in writing:

  • In case of cancellation of the trip the entire cost of non-refundable permits will NOT be refunded (for example gorilla permit or chimpanzee permit or other permits already issued and non-refundable).
  • For cancellations more than 30 days before the start of the holiday, the entire deposit will NOT be refunded.
  • For cancellations less than 30 days before the start of the holiday, 100% of the total cost of the tour will NOT be refunded.
  • There will be no refunds for parts of the program / itinerary not completed for any reason.
  • Any changes to an itinerary already decided may involve additional costs.
  • If the international flight is included in the package for the international flight, the cancellation conditions of the airline apply, net of any fees (non-refundable) for the issue of tickets.

Savannah Explorers Ltd can change an accommodation (hotel, lodge, tented camp, guest house, campsite etc.) with another same level accommodation.

Savannah Explorers Ltd reserves the right to increase safari price whenever operating costs that are outside Savannah Explorers Ltd control rise, for example park fees, camping fee and other taxes.

Travel Insurance:

It must be clearly understood that these are adventure safaris and there are certain dangers and risks which are inevitable. Whilst every care is taken for the safety and comfort of our clients, the company accepts no liability for all or any of the following:

  • Damage or loss of property of any client, howsoever caused.
  • Sickness, infection, injury or death of the clients, howsoever caused.
  • Change of itinerary due to road and weather conditions.
  • Damages, directly or indirectly, arising out of delays in departure or arrival
  • Including delays occasioned by the missing of road, bridge, rail, ship or aircraft connections.

All the above and other unexpected situations can arise before or during any type of vacation. Such an event might cause you to cut short your vacation or cause your trip to be cancelled all together. Unfortunately, because of the costs incurred by the tour operator, any cancellation after booking incurs financial penalties, up to and including loss of the entire package price. That's why it is mandatory to have Travel Insurance or a Travel Protection Plan offered by an insurance company in your country.
