Summary

This is 2 days/1 night tour combination of Mountain hiking and theOl Pejeta experience. This safari is tailored to those who are interested in seeing the fascinating vegetation zones of an equatorial mountain and the associated rich animal and bird life. The Conservancy is the closest place to come and see the "BIG FIVE" It boasts of an outstanding variety of animals including the non-indigenous chimpanzee and the endangered Black Rhino, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Lion. The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi-Mount Kenya National Park

Depart from Naromoru at 0800hrs after briefing and equipment sorting by the guides.

You will then drive for about 16 kms to the park gate where you check-in the Mount Kenya national park, after a few minute of photo taking and viewing some wildlife such as bushbucks, waterbucks, baboons and bird life you board on our 4x4 vehicles which drive up to the road head of the Naro Moru Track (altitude 3,000m.Met.staion camp).

The guides will do a short talk and explain more about the vegetation around the camp. You will be provided with packed lunch then guides will sets a leisurely pace for a relaxing trek up the mountain through different vegetation from bamboo forest, hagenia trees to heathers trees and beginning of moorland covered by tussock grass and flowered cabbage robberies, also great views of lowland and Aberdare ranges. Along the way you will enjoy the enriched forest of birdlife and flowers on the high altitudes.

After 3- 4 hrs of ascending you will be on top of Teleki valley where we have the picnic rocks in time for lunch (3,700m). Enjoy your packed lunch with a good view.

After the lunch, we continue your stroll to the crest of the ridge at 4,000m, from which vantage point you have a splendid view of the main peaks as well as the Teleki Valley. You will then to descend down to the Met. Station taking you between 2 to 3hrs. You will then embark on your tour van and drive on to Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

The first stop will be at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary which is a refuge for chimpanzee from around West and Central Africa. You will get to learn about some of the 38 Chimpanzees that live in the sanctuary's natural enclosures and see the primates as they approach their feeding platform. You will later check in at the lodge for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

DAY 2: Ol Pajeta Conservacy-Nairobi

On this day after breakfast, you will depart to Ol Pejeta Conservancy for a game drive across the open plains, which are some of remarkable of rare animals. Enjoy a game drive in the park. You can see Reticulated Giraffe, Burchells Zebras, African Elephants, Cape Buffalos, Warthogs, Waterbucks and over 500 species of bird that have been recorded including the Ostrich.

You will later break for lunch and there after visit Kenya's traditional homesteads and sample some of their culture. The Maasai, Pokot, Turkana, Samburu people invite you to their homes and sell their traditional wares, show off the ritual dances and introduce you to their life styles.

We will then assemble and begin our trip back to Nairobi, where you will be dropped at a central place within the city center.
