We have so far partnered with schools and foundations that work in social welfare programs that ensure the well-being of school-going children. We work to affirm that every child has a right to quality education as provided for by the law. That said, poverty, domestic violence, and other forms of instabilities cause many children to miss days, sometimes weeks, of classes.
Our Contribution:Education
Having assessed the need, we sought a way to help keep children in school. Below are our contributions so far.
Kibera YMCA Project Primary School
One of our managing directors is a member of Y's Men International, a charity organization that encourages its members, called Y's Men and Y's Women, to serve people with their time, talent, and treasure. In one of their Nairobi meetings, it was mentioned that the organization supports a school in Kibera, Nairobi, a low-income area of the city.
In alignment with Kendirita's dream of keeping children in school, we partnered with Y's men to achieve this goal.
As of June 2024, we had provided dignity kits to over 290 students, both boys and girls. The kits help ease the agony brought about by the lack of essential items like undergarments, soap, petroleum jelly, and menstrual hygiene products (for girls).
We are glad to report that, according to the school's records, the intake of students had increased in term two compared to term one when we first visited. Notably, absenteeism was also reported to be on a downward trajectory.
Further, Kendirita Tours is also sponsoring several students, covering their school fees through secondary school. These students are now studying at several institutions including Asumbi Girls, Nyabururu Girls, and Lenana Boys High Schools.
Our vision for the futureAt Kendirita Tours, we believe that we are stronger together. We have barely scratched the surface with our contributions, but we know that with your help, we could do so much more to transform the lives of the children who are the future of this country and the world.
