Something Kind for Customer Service Week

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”- Mathew 25:40

On October 9th, 2024, our team at Kendirita Tours, along with our partners from the Y’s Men Nairobi office, visited Kibera YMCA Primary School. Driven by our dream to help children stay in school, we took advantage of the beautiful day during Customer Service Week, to spread some kindness.

Context:

customer service

Although primary school education is free and mandatory for all children in Kenya, economic hardships, domestic violence, and other instabilities still lead to significant absenteeism. Period poverty, for instance, is a serious problem that forces girls to miss several days, sometimes even weeks, of school each term, severely affecting their education.

In January 2024, Kendirita Tours, together with our partners at Y’s Men International, committed to helping ease the burdens faced by schools in our community, leveraging our unique gifts and abilities. This commitment led us to choose Kibera YMCA Primary School for our Customer Service Week initiative, marking our third visit to the school this year.

Our visit:

When we arrived at the school, the students were in the midst of their end-of-year exams. Despite the usual exam-time pressures, the administration graciously allowed us an hour to spend with the children. We were greeted with vibrant smiles on familiar faces, as the kids already knew our team members by name, a testament to the impact of our previous visits.

We engaged in heartfelt conversations with the students, who eagerly shared their dreams with us. We validated their aspirations by reminding them that they are the future leaders of this country, and it’s only a matter of time before they step into those roles. The session was incredibly rewarding for both us and the children.

Our Contribution:

Dignity Kits

dignity kits

Kendirita Tours provided dignity kits for 291 students (Grade 4 and above). The kits included bathing and laundry soaps, undergarments for boys and girls, petroleum jelly, and sanitary pads for girls to last the rest of the school term and through the holidays.

Nutrition Package

Our partners at Y’s Men-Nairobi also brought wonderful gifts to support the school feeding program. They provided a bag of rice, a bag of sugar, and a bag of beans, which will go a long way in ensuring no child goes hungry.

In closing, Kendirita Tours is grateful for all we’ve achieved this year, and we look forward to making an even greater impact next year.
